Community Guidelines
BritSquare should be enjoyable to explore. These rules apply to profile text, photos, photo-location pins, square titles, verified-business profiles, offers and other user-generated content.
Last updated: 21 August 2026Be respectful
Do not use BritSquare to bully, threaten, harass, intimidate or target people. Hate content, dehumanising abuse and encouragement of violence are not permitted.
Keep people safe
Do not post credible threats, instructions intended to facilitate serious wrongdoing, sexual exploitation, or content that unlawfully endangers another person.
Respect privacy
Do not publish someone else’s private contact details, precise home information, confidential records or other sensitive personal information without a legitimate reason and appropriate permission. Photo and business-location pins should not be used to expose a private or sensitive location.
Be genuine
Do not impersonate people or organisations, misrepresent a BritSquare claim as legal ownership of land, deliberately deceive users about the location or status of a square, or submit a business that does not genuinely operate within the BritSquare used for the application.
Business profiles and offers
Verified-business information should remain accurate and relevant. Do not publish deceptive offers, fake discounts, misleading opening hours, unrelated advertising or promotions that cannot reasonably be honoured. Verification is not permission to turn a square profile into spam.
Respect intellectual property
Only upload material you created or have permission to use. Do not knowingly upload copyrighted photos, logos or other works in a way that infringes another person’s rights.
No spam or manipulation
Do not flood the service with repetitive content, automate claims in an abusive way, manipulate likes, visits, recommendations or other engagement, distribute malware or attempt to interfere with BritSquare systems.
Moderation
Content, business listings and offers may be reviewed before or after publication. We may remove or restrict content, remove business verification, limit features, or suspend accounts where reasonably necessary to enforce these rules, protect users or comply with law.
Context matters
Newsworthy, documentary, educational or public-interest context may matter when content is reviewed, but it does not automatically make unlawful or seriously harmful content acceptable.
Use the report option on a square profile to flag content for review. Urgent threats to life or safety should be reported to the appropriate emergency service rather than relying on platform moderation.
